| Probate, Wills &
Letters of Administration
The Executor(s) appointed under
the Will is responsible for administering the Estate, but when a
person dies without a Will an administrator needs to be appointed
through an application to a special division of the High Court.
It is usual to consult the deceased's
own solicitor, although it is possible to make personal application
for Probate or Letters of Administration by appointment at the local
Probate Sub-Registry. In this case you will need to supply a copy
of the Death Certificate, any Will or written wishes left by the
deceased, and full details of the Estate. In small estates this
may be dispensed with altogether.
